30 Wondrous Things to Do in Biloxi, Mississippi

To simplify things, I’ve divided this post about the best things to do in Biloxi into three sections: museums and historical things to do in Biloxi, casino and resort attractions in Biloxi, and other fun things to do in Biloxi.

The official entrance of Biloxi with a building that extends both sides of the road; getting a photo here is one of the best things to do in Biloxi.

Welcome to Biloxi!

Museums and Other Historical Things to Do in Biloxi

Biloxi, Mississippi is home to various fascinating museums and historic places.

From the Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum to the Hurricane Katrina Memorial, there are plenty of places to visit that will give you your inner history buff hit.

Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum

A very popular Biloxi attraction is the Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum.

This museum is dedicated to preserving the maritime history of Biloxi, and it’s an interesting place to visit.

The museum has a variety of exhibits that tell the story of Biloxi’s seafood industry and its importance to the local economy.

My favorite part about visiting the museum was learning about coastal conservation, and several videos highlight the significance of the industry in the area.

I recommend carving out two hours here to ensure you have enough time to explore everything.

Coastal Mardi Gras Museum

Colorful Mardi Gras masks and attire that can be seen at the Coastal Mardi Gras Museum, which is one of many neat things to do in Biloxi.

The Coastal Mardi Gras Museum is a Biloxi attraction where you can learn about the tradition in the area.

If you’re looking for things to do in Biloxi that are slightly different, be sure to check out the Coastal Mardi Gras Museum.

This small museum is dedicated to the local history of Mardi Gras and the Gulf Coast region and is a great place to learn about this unique cultural tradition.

You’ll see fascinating artifacts and memorabilia, including costumes, masks, parade floats, and more.

Fair warning – you’ll want to book a trip back to Biloxi for the next Carnival season after visiting this museum!

Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art

A person with a blue apron on creating pottery.

Get creative at Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art.

Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art is another one of the best attractions in Biloxi, Mississippi.

This museum is dedicated to the works of George Ohr, who was known as the “Mad Potter of Biloxi.”

Unfortunately, Ohr didn’t start receiving recognition for his beautiful masterpieces until a few years after he passed away.

The museum has a variety of permanent and rotating exhibits, and it houses a blend of historical and contemporary art.

You can also take a private pottery class and go home with a souvenir!

Walter Anderson Museum of Art

Located in Ocean Springs, the Walter Anderson Museum of Art is a must-see for any art lover.

The museum is dedicated to the works of Walter Anderson, who was a self-taught Mississippi artist.

Anderson’s paintings and illustrations are inspired by the natural world and have a distinctly Southern charm.

The museum has a variety of permanent and rotating exhibits, and it’s a whimsical place to spend the afternoon.

Beauvoir (Jefferson Davis Home and Presidential Library)

Three white houses set on a manicured lawn known as Beauvoir and is one of the best things to do in Biloxi Mississippi.

Beauvoir is one of the most interesting things to do in Biloxi, Mississippi.

If you’re a history buff, visit Beauvoir, the Jefferson Davis Presidential Library and home.

Jefferson Davis was the President of the Confederate States of America during the Civil War, and his home is one of the most historic places in Biloxi that’s open for tours.

The artifacts in the house tell the story of Davis’ life and career, and there’s a cemetery outside that commemorates the Confederate soldiers who died during the Civil War.

It felt eerie to be walking around the home of the man who led the Confederacy, but I highly recommend visiting.

Reading a history book is one thing, but seeing this national historic landmark and the things that are connected to it is an entirely different experience.

Buy your tickets to Beauvoir here. This skip-the-line ticket includes a tour guide.

Hurricane Katrina Memorial

An integral part of Biloxi’s history is Hurricane Katrina, which made landfall in the city in 2005.

In remembrance of those who lost their lives and to support those affected by the hurricane, the Hurricane Katrina Memorial was erected in Biloxi.

It’s mounted 12 feet tall which signifies the height of the storm surge, and it features a map of Biloxi with the names of all who died as a result of the hurricane.

It’s a somber reminder of the devastation that can be caused by nature, but it’s also a symbol of hope and resilience.

Biloxi Lighthouse

Biloxi Lighthouse on the median of the highway which is one of the most popular Biloxi attractions.

Don’t miss out on visiting one of the most iconic Biloxi attractions – Biloxi Lighthouse!

One of the most popular things to do in Biloxi is to visit the Biloxi Lighthouse.

Bulit in 1848, this historic lighthouse was one of the first cast-iron lighthouses in the South.

Biloxi Lighthouse is open for tours, and it’s a magnificent landmark to see.

You can climb to the top of the lighthouse for some truly stunning views of the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

In fact, I think it’s the best view in town and the whole family will love it.

This lighthouse was on Mississippi license plates for a few years and is a Mississippi landmark.

Other Fun Things to Do in Biloxi

This section covers other notable attractions and things to do in Biloxi. These are some of the best tourist attractions on Mississippi’s Gulf Coast.

Biloxi Visitors Center

Biloxi Visitors Center behind the lighthouse on a perfectly manicured lawn which is one of the most fun things to do in Biloxi.

Stop by the Biloxi Visitors Center so you can learn about all of the fun things to do in Biloxi.

Biloxi Visitors Center is the perfect place to visit to start your getaway.

This center is located in the heart of the town and has information about things to do in Biloxi and the rest of the Mississippi Gulf area.

They have free maps, brochures, and guides, and they can help you find things to do in Biloxi that fit your interests.

The center also serves as a small museum, and you can learn about Biloxi’s locals and the town’s history.

Hurricane Katrina Tree Sculptures

After Hurricane Katrina, a group of artists created a series of sculptures out of the fallen trees from the storm.

There are around 50 tree sculptures scattered along Highway 90 on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

The sculptures depict different aspects of life in Biloxi and symbolize Hurricane Katrina’s impact on the city.

There are sculptures of marlin, dolphins, pelicans, and more. They’re definitely one of the most unique Biloxi attractions.

Biloxi Bay Bridge

Biloxi Bay Bridge stretches across the ocean and is one of many attractions in Biloxi Mississippi.

One of many attractions in Biloxi, Mississippi – Biloxi Bay Bridge!

Biloxi Bay Bridge is one of the most popular Biloxi attractions, and for a good reason.

This bridge spans the length of Biloxi Bay and offers stunning views of the Gulf Coast.

You can drive over the bridge, but it doesn’t compare to walking. There’s a separate, secure walking area on the side of the bridge that’s perfect for a romantic walk or a family outing.

I recommend going at sunset to see the fiery orange skies and the bridge lit up against the sky.

Popp’s Ferry Causeway Park

Popp’s Ferry Causeway Park is another excellent place to watch the sunset and enjoy nature.

This park is a hidden gem in Biloxi and a must-visit. Keep your eyes peeled for dolphins frolicking in the bay.

It has a walking trail along the water, a playground, a fishing pier, picnic tables, and more.

It also has a kayak launch point, so bring your gear with you if this is something you’re interested in.

Ship Island

Ship Island is a beautiful, uninhabited barrier island located just off the coast of Biloxi, and it’s only accessible by boat.

It’s one of the most unique islands in the USA, and it’s the perfect day trip to paradise!

The island features beautiful white sand beaches, crystal clear water, and plenty of natural beauty.

Ship Island visitors can enjoy swimming, fishing, kayaking, water sports, or simply relax on the beach.

You can rent chairs and umbrellas on the south side of this isolated island, but you’ll want to bring towels, toys, and sunscreen.

Indulge in the Mouthwatering Local Seafood

A plate of oysters with lemons.

You can’t leave Biloxi without trying the local seafood!

Since Biloxi is located on the coast, it’s a seafood lover’s paradise.

You can find all sorts of seafood here, but the local specialty is oysters, and you can get eat them raw, grilled, or fried. You name it; you got it!

I highly advise against eating at chains like Bubba Gump Shrimp Company or at fine dining restaurants (unless it’s Half Shell Oyster House – more on that below)!

You’ll want to stick to the little mom-and-pop restaurants that know how to serve a delicious plate of local seafood.

For a nicer dinner, Half Shell Oyster House is the place to go. They serve New Orleans-style cuisine with a Southern twist.

Their seafood pot pie and seafood stuffed portabellas are *chef’s kiss.*

Shaggy’s Biloxi Beach, Taranto’s Crawfish, McElroy’s Harbor House, and CJ’s Coastal Grill are other delectable places to get your seafood fix without breaking the bank.

Cat Island

Cat Island is another prime destination for a day trip, and it’s only a short boat ride from Biloxi.

The island got its name from Spanish explorers who misjudged the raccoons inhabiting the island for cats.

The island is also home to various other animals, including alligators, bald eagles, ospreys, and more.

Visitors can enjoy nature walks, bird watching, fishing, swimming, and kayaking on the island.

Biloxi Beach

Umbrellas and chairs lined up along Biloxi Beach so that visitors can enjoy the beachy things to do in Biloxi.

Enjoy all the beachy things to do in Biloxi at Biloxi Beach!

There are plenty of things to do in Biloxi, and one of the best is visiting Biloxi Beach!

You can kayak around the beach, simply lay by the water, or have an adrenaline rush on a jet ski.

If you’re looking for Florida-like pristine beaches, you sadly won’t find that in Biloxi.

You probably won’t see Biloxi Beach featured on a list of the best beaches in the USA, but the sand is beautiful and bright gold and makes up for the water.

The murky water is a byproduct of the Mississippi sound and the nearby barrier islands.

But, a beach is a beach, and I’ve never been to a beach I didn’t like.

If you want a picture-perfect beach experience, you’ll definitely get that at Ship Island.

Sharkheads

Sharkheads is an eccentric gift and souvenir shop in Biloxi, and there’s a reason why it’s on this list of things to do in Biloxi.

Even if you don’t want to buy souvenirs, you’ll still want to visit this Biloxi attraction.

The store is painted pink, blue, and green. I wasn’t joking when I said it’s an eccentric spot.

Sharkheads is filled with all sorts of things, and it’s definitely a one-of-a-kind place that you won’t find anywhere else.

The neatest thing about the store is that its 32-foot entrance is actually the mouth of a shark! (Not an actual shark, of course).

Betsy Ann Riverboat

A red paddlewheel on the Betsy Ann Riverboat, which is one of many things to do in Biloxi.

Jump aboard the Betsy Ann Riverboat and discover the exciting things to do in Biloxi.

A fun and unique way to see Biloxi and the Mississippi Coast is by taking a ride on the Betsy Ann Riverboat.

The boat offers sightseeing tours of the area, and you can learn about the local history and culture.

It’s also a great way to enjoy the beauty of the Mississippi Coast, especially during sunset.

The boat has a variety of tours to choose from, including historical and ecological tours, private charters, and more.

They even have a hibachi dinner cruise which I highly recommend! How cool is that?

Biloxi West Beach Boardwalk

If you’re looking for a place to people watch and enjoy the sun and sand, head to Biloxi West Beach Boardwalk.

This boardwalk is handicap accessible, and it was built to make the beaches in Biloxi more accessible.

The boardwalk stretches along the beach and is lined with restaurants and shops, so you can easily spend a few hours here.

I recommend having dinner at one of the restaurants and walking along the boardwalk once it’s dark.

There are lights along the boardwalk, and it’s a very serene experience at night.

Biloxi Shuckers Game at MGM Park

Fans cheering on the Biloxi Shuckers baseball game at MGM Park which is one of several fun things to do in Biloxi Mississippi.

Biloxi Shuckers baseball game at MGM Park.

Calling all baseball fans! If you want to catch a game while in Biloxi, head to MGM Park to watch the Biloxi Shuckers.

They’re a Double-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers and are named after the oyster and seafood industry.

You can also take a ballpark tour, and it’s a fun experience for all baseball fans!

Biloxi Tour Train – One of the Most Fun Things to Do in Biloxi

As you know, Biloxi is packed with a rich history. One of the most fun ways to experience it is on a Biloxi tour train.

Also known as the “Shrimp Train,” this educational tour is a 90 minute narrated trip that takes you through Biloxi’s Historic District.

Most of the tours are accompanied by the owner, Carla. She was born in Biloxi and knows everything about the town and local destinations.

Plus, she’ll show you exactly what Southern hospitality is. This tour is a history buffs’ dream come true!

Biloxi Fishing Trip

A woman holding a fish she caught on a fishing trip which is one of the best outdoor things to do in Biloxi Mississippi.

Looking for adventurous things to do in Biloxi? Reel in a catch on a fishing trip!

Recreational fishing is a massive deal in Biloxi, and there are plenty of fishing charters to choose from.

My favorite company of all the fishing charters is Mega Bite Fishing Charters. Their guides are fantastic, and they’re knowledgeable about anything fishing-related.

You can fish for redfish, trout, flounder, pompano, spadefish, and more.

Mega Bite Fishing Charters also offers a special red snapper fishing trip. These are generally six or eight-hour trips, and they take you to two islands to reel in your catch.

If you’re a beginner, don’t worry! The guides will teach you everything you need to know about fishing, and they’ll make this one of the most exciting outdoor activities you’ve participated in.

Biloxi Shrimping Trip

Shrimping boats, a popular Biloxi attraction, lined up in the harbor.

Even if you don’t want to go on a shrimping trip, you can still see the boats by the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

One of the most famous residents of Biloxi is the millions of shrimp!

This 70-minute guided trip takes you through the Mississippi Sound between Deer Island and the Biloxi shoreline, where you’ll learn about the shrimp industry and how to shrimp.

The captain drops a 16-foot net into the water, and he’ll sort through the shrimp and other marine life the net catches.

The crew is very knowledgeable about the area and will answer any questions you have about Biloxi.

Haunted Bayou Tour

Sunset on a haunted bayou tour which is a spooky and fun thing to do in Biloxi.

Although it isn’t a Biloxi attraction, the haunted bayou tour is worth it.

Biloxi and the surrounding area are home to several haunted locations, and the Haunted Bayou Tour takes you on a mysterious journey to experience spookiness in the marsh.

This hour-long tour departs from Bay Saint Louis, about a 45-minute drive from Biloxi.

The guides will give you the lowdown on all things spooky that have been happening in the area as they take you through the Mississippi bayous on a boat.

Keep an eye out for ghosts and brightly lit eyes in the water (alligators)! Have a ghoulish time!

Have the Best Southern Soul Food of Your Life

The exterior of Cajun's Fried Chicken which locals deem a Biloxi attraction.

A hidden gem of an attraction in Biloxi, Mississippi: Cajun’s Fried Chicken.

There’s nothing quite like some home-cooked Southern soul food, and Biloxi offers a few tasty places to satisfy that craving.

But, the best Southern food I’ve had in my entire life (and I’m from the South!) was at Cajun’s Fabulous Fried Chicken in Gulfport, which is about 30 minutes west of Biloxi.

It’s a cash-only buffet where you can get fried chicken, red rice and beans, catfish, collard greens, fried okra, and more Southern classics. You know it’s good when all the locals eat there!

Warning – you’ll want to wear stretchy pants, though. One trip through the buffet isn’t enough.
